Hearing Aid Assistance
The District of Columbia Department of Health (DC Health) has a new program: the Hearing Aid Assistance Program (HAAP).
HAAP provides District residents with a reimbursement to offset the cost of purchasing a hearing aid not covered by insurance.
Residents that purchase/purchased a hearing aid between June 1, 2018 and September 1, 2020 can qualify to receive a reimbursement up to $500 per applicant depending on the out-of-pocket cost.
Eligible applicants must:
be a resident of the District of Columbia
be 0 – 14 years old (or 65 and older)
have a disability
have an annual gross household income of less than $100,000
To receive a reimbursement, the applicant must complete the HAAP application and provide:
proof of District residency
proof of income
proof of hearing aid purchase
verification of hearing impairment from a doctor
Reimbursement will be contingent upon the availability of funds, so apply as soon as you can.
