More than 90% of deaf children are born to hearing parents, most of whom don’t know American Sign Language (ASL). Sign language plays an essential role in language development for deaf and hard-of-hearing children.
ASDC is dedicated to helping parents and siblings of deaf children learn ASL. That’s why we offer ASL Weekends, a two-day workshop taught by a team of experienced teachers. It’s a course designed to boost ASL skills and increase understanding of Deaf culture.
We offer ASL Weekends in cities all over the country and many families need financial assistance to attend. ASDC offers scholarships to many of those families, but demand goes beyond our ability to provide assistance for everyone who needs it. That’s why we are now offering gift registrations for the ASL Weekend.
If you know a parent, grandparent or sibling (aged 16+) of a deaf child who would want to improve their ASL skills, you can now make that happen for them!
