Corduroy by Don Freeman
This week, we’re featuring an ASL retelling of Corduroy. This classic children’s story is about a bear in a department store who is dismissed by a young girl’s mother because he’s missing a button on his overalls. Corduroy searches the entire store for his button, but can’t find it. In the end, the girl returns with her own money to buy him and helps sew a new button on his overalls. This story has a beautiful message of acceptance and friendship. Thank you to the Maine Educational Center for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing/Governor Baxter School for the Deaf for this video.
