CREATING CONNECTIONS.

In today’s society, literacy stands as the cornerstone of success, particularly for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing/Deaf-Blind children. Their journey toward literacy and language proficiency thrives on interactive education, focused reading, parental engagement, and innovative communication methods.

Literacy2024: Creating Connections With Language is a beacon of support for educators, professionals, parents, and advocates alike, equipping them with fresh tools, insights, and perspectives to empower Deaf, Hard-of-Hearing, or Deaf-Blind children and students on their educational path.

The American Society for Deaf Children, along with our co-hosts: Language First, South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, and the South Carolina Department of Education invite you to join us in Charleston this October and become a part of our movement to create a language-accessible world.

LITERACY MATTERS.

Language is the key to learning, building relationships, and achieving success. It’s what allows us to create connections that matter. Together, we’re committed to crafting an engaging, forward-thinking experience for both presenters and attendees, one that fosters progressive literacy and language development for Deaf/Hard-of-Hearing/DeafBlind children and students.

That was my first time going to a conference of that scale, and I was truly blown away. It was just such a special and amazing experience for me to connect with other TODs and get a lot of great information. I put several of the methods I learned into effect immediately upon getting back to school that Monday and continued building them throughout the year.

Next school year I’m making the switch from elementary to high school, so I’ll need to come to the conference again and collect another batch of tools for the toolbox.
