Cheri Dowling has been named Acting Executive Director by the ASDC board. Dowling has been with ASDC since 2007, first as the Directory of Advocacy and then as the Director of Outreach and Programs.

Dowling is passionate about supporting families with children who are deaf and hard of hearing. She established the popular ASL Weekends program and during the pandemic, quickly put together a series of online classes, workshops and story time events for adults and children of all ages.

“ASL Weekends helped families feel connected to each other and to the Deaf community. Our instructors stepped up to bring that same sense of community to our families during a time of isolation. And we’ll continue to offer online classes and events because they’e been so well received,” Dowling says. “We’ll continue to look for new ways to engage and support our families as we move forward.”

As Director of Outreach and Programs, Dowling was responsible for a significant growth in membership and brought the following programs and resources to ASDC families:

Dowling is married to her partner of 39 years, John. Together they have two children, Ryan (23) and Patrick (26) who is Deaf with disabilities.
